The Bears Ears combine a light pack with superior support for a bear canister
Capacity:
25ย liters plus pocket, plus bear can; 25-30 lbs max comfortable carrying capacity.
32ย liters plus pocket, plus bear can; 25ย -30 lbs max comfortable carrying capacity.
30 lbs is the comfort limit
Bear Canister compatibility:
The frameless Bears Ears is most comfortableย if the total bear canister weight is under 12-15lbs.
Optimized for BV 500/ Bearikade Blazer. Does not hold smaller canisters, such as BV 425-450-ONE/Scout.
Good carry is ensured with the BV 475 – 500; and Bearikade Weekender –ย Blazer
The Bearikade Expedition can be used as long as the total weight pack weight does not exceed 30 lbs.
Not in-house tested with the Bare Boxer, but reports seems to indicate a decent carry
The Bears Ears harness will hold the Garcia securely, but it might not be as comfortable due to the widening around the middle of this canister

Carry the canister full and access food easily during the day, without removing the can from the pack.
Full wrap, floating hipbelt with direct load transfer from the canister. User replaceable.
Padded shoulder straps with regular/wide attachment points. User replaceable.
Secure accordion style roll top with one strap. Quick access without snaps, Velcro or side buckles. No Y-strap to untangle.
Single wrap around exterior pocket for cold soak jar, wet DCF, rain gear, Kettle Chips.
Dedicated ice axe/ trekking pole carry and CCF padย attachment
Dual water bottle holders with non-contortionist access, on hipbelt. User replaceable.

Replace the bear canister with our Cargo Sack, Ursack, packraft, climbing equipment, winter specific bulk, when onย trips without bear pressure.

Sizing:
Use a loaded pack for trying. With hipbelt resting on hip bone (right below waist), the correct torso sizing is indicated by shoulder straps going horizontal or either very slightly uphillย or downhillย from user’s shoulders to pack.
Aย packย that is too smallย is indicated by shoulder straps wrapping user’s shoulders and going down to pack.
When in doubt size up. Our torso sizing jumps in 1.5″ increments
